The Consea site operated as a salt works and sardine factory since at least 1910.

An investigation was conducted to evaluate the site for possible impacts from historic site operations which included bulk storage
of fuel oil.
The new site owner, David Pottle, has completed demolition of the old buildings to make way for construction of a lobster storage
facility.
